With so much grief, political smoke, and inflammatory rhetoric it's been hard not to feel confused and somewhat powerless. My hope is that this article leaves you both educated and empowered on an fundamental issue we're all feeling the weight of.
Black culture needs to support it's innovators and those interested in S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math) if we want to survive the new digital economy.
The black elephant in the room
Intelligence amongst blacks is often seen as either:
- A threat: Black Female Scientist. On My First Day of Work, a Colleague Threatened to Call the Cops on Me.
- Generally unwelcomed:More than 5,000 scientists and two prominent scientific journals shut down operations and pledged to use the day to address racial inequalities in science.(CNBC)
This has lead to us seeking out other ways to contribute to society often at the detriment of economic and cultural development.
The entire world is at at tension right now because deep down we believe that heritage and legacy (meaningful relationships and work) are foundational to a life well lived. The tension of our diversity forces us to challenge our values for the collective good.
It isn't Just Black culture
Black and Brown communities everywhere are affected by poverty and it's suffocating our potential. Why?
Like plants need water, communities need technical problems solvers(S.T.E.M.). Impoverished communities which need the best problem solvers don't have the infrastructure to produce and support them.
We have an Infrastructure issue at the community level all over.
in order for a S.T.E.M community to thrive it needs
- Capability: The ability to for students to perform a specific task or achieve a great outcomes for their communities in
- Capacity: quantity of something, whether the quantity of S.T.E.M. students in order sufficient in order to achieve and complete something task in the community
- Competency: is another word for know-how or skill. Measure of whether impoverished students have the competence to solve community challenges and be fairly compensated for their contributions to society
Impoverished communities all over the country are failing in all these areas for S.T.E.M.
- Most have easier access to opiates and video games than relevant, age appropriate, S.T.E.M. resources
- Every community is cultivating the 3 C’s in their area for better or for worse.
- It’s up to us to direct the community vision toward healthy ambitions that can support and protect our communities of the future.
The Primal Institute.
The Primal Institute Is committed to cultivating a healthy environment for S.T.E.M. development in impoverished communities
This is how Primal Analytics wants to give back
Primal Labs, our "boots on the ground" solution to get S.T.E.M. focused tech and educational resources directly into impoverished communities
- Starting in my own backyard with light of the village here in Prichard Alabama
- Tons of free educational content to support they're growth
We’re just starting to get this into process and we’re looking for support & volunteers
- Director: Connect with community programs and offer assistance to establish Primal Labs
- Digital Businesses can support the institute by subscribing to our analytics service or making a direct donation to the institute
A portion of all profits from primal Analytics goes toward establishing S.T.E.M programs in impoverished communities.
- S.T.E.M. masterclasses
- Stem ready Tech
- Real world application through group based projects
So, we can either hope that hip-hop becomes a religion that can sustain black culture thereby giving our impoverished communities a “pass”.
Or
We can commit to building a community level infrastructure that supports and protects our future.
Help Primal Support our future scientists and innovators.
Until next time.
