A brief history of the internet.

For the World Wide Web to become viral, people needed to be able to shop online.

  1. June 1994: Lou Montulli and his co-workers at Netscape invent the " Magical cookie" (the nuts and bolts behind digital shopping carts)
  2. Despite some public backlash over privacy concerns in 96-97 the internet continues to gain users
  3. September 1998 google is born marking the dawn of a cookie driven era. Google would go on to use cookies to track and analyze personal online shopper behavior for Advertisers to increase sales to their online store.

The haphazard and ubiquitous use of Third party cookies in the Advertising industry would continue with massive profits and little interference for the next 20 years.

Then something big happened...

2018: Growing public unrest surrounding online privacy triggers Government interaction.

This is forcing a fundamental shift in the Digital Advertising industry yet most have been quiet.
